We are More Than Matter.

Mission

What is more than matter? It's what we believe in and what we're working towards. We are more than matter and you are more than matter.

Posture

How We Live

No one is ordinary and no one is perfect. The enduring is greater than the sensational. Mystery is not embarrassing. Meaning is more real than materialism. Apathy is unbecoming. Modesty is admirable. Wonder ought to be celebrated. Admittedly these postures are not specific to architecture, or even creative endeavors. Even still they are tenets that our team hold to be true.

Practice

How We Move

In our practice of architecture and other disciplines we own our mistakes. We have fun. We consider the consequences of our decisions on our neighbors. We seek the highest good in every endeavor. That means we often require more of ourselves than our clients request. And to get there we question accepted conventions and embrace change, both in methods and materials.

Paradox

How We Find Our Being

Hierarchy and Harmony

Order is inherent throughout creation. Reality is intelligible. Moreover, its dramatic. And narrative is the structure through which we can find meaning in this cosmic drama. Everything has a role, a responsibility, and relates to the whole. The built environment, the work of human hands, should reflect this order. Design, architecture and otherwise, is a means to share good stories.

Logic and Lore

Can something rational, abiding by the laws of nature, convey truths beyond the limited knowledge of the present? Can earthly dwellings be fashioned for ethereal dwellers? We're convinced there's a realm more real than reality. And that reason and romance are asking the same question with different words. This perceived contradiction invites a directness and an extravagance in response. Design is an exploration of true nature.

Gravity and Grace

It's worth pausing to recognize we still don't understand most of what makes life so beautiful. Our species is corporeal and yet conscious. This coexistence of mass and mystery inspires us. If humility is required to rest in the unknown, may our work reflect both the body and the spirit. Architecture, like art, should remind us of our soul, and if successful, the measured can become more than matter. In design we model these beautiful ideals.
